Move your club from Spond to Playlee

Export your members from Spond Club, stage them in Playlee, review the import, then invite families when you are ready.

What moves

  • Members with their date of birth, gender and contact details
  • Groups and subgroups, as teams — a member in two groups joins both squads
  • Guardians (up to three per member) linked to their children
  • Medical notes where your export includes them

What does not

  • Saved cards: they live in Spond’s Stripe account and cannot be transferred, so payers add a card or Direct Debit in Playlee
  • Payment history: Spond exports settlement summaries, not per-family history; keep the Excel files for your records
  • Chat history and posts: not exportable from Spond

Review the import before parents are invited

Importing data does not contact parents or collect payments. The committee reviews the club first and decides when invitations are sent.

Spond groups are private by default; a new Playlee club can be kept unlisted too, so nobody finds it before the club is ready.

How the move works

    Export from Spond Club

    Members → Active members → select all → Export. Open the .xlsx and save it as CSV (UTF-8).

    Stage it in Playlee

    Import Centre → Exported from: Spond Club. Upload the CSV as Teams first, then as Members. Review the preview and fix anything flagged.

    Invite families when ready

    Importing sends nothing. When the committee is happy, send invitations; parents confirm their details and set up payment.

Questions about moving from Spond

Does the import contact our parents?
No. Staging and importing data sends no email, SMS or push. Parents are contacted only when the club sends invitations afterwards.
Will parents have to re-enter their details?
No. Families arrive already linked to their children and squads. Parents confirm their details, add a payment method and download the app.
Do saved cards move from Spond?
No. Cards saved in Spond are held by Spond’s payment provider and cannot be transferred. Each payer adds a card or a Direct Debit in Playlee once, on their first payment.
What about payments that are part-way through?
Agree the cutover date with us: Spond collects up to it, Playlee from it. Nobody is charged twice and nobody is reset. Keep Spond’s settlement exports for your records.
What does Playlee cost compared to Spond?
Spond’s published rate is lower per payment. Playlee charges 3.25% + 20p all-in with no subscription. See the comparison page for the figures side by side and what the difference buys.
