Where your fees live
Everything your club asks you to pay (subs, signing-on fees, instalments and any fines) appears in the Plans tab of the Playlee Clubs app. It shows your balance due, what is due now, what is coming up, your payment history and the payment method the club will collect from.
On a computer you can do the same from the My Club page at clubs.playlee.com. Payments go through Stripe, straight to your club. You pay the amount the club has set. Playlee’s fee comes out of the club’s share, not on top of your payment.
Where to go
- App → Plans tab
- Balance due, Due now, Upcoming, Payment history and your Payment method card.
- Web → clubs.playlee.com → My Club
- The same fees, with a Pay button on each one and a button to set up or update automatic payments.
Pay and set up automatic payments
- 1
Open the Plans tab
Check the child, the amount and the due date on each item. A status shows under the amount, such as due, overdue, processing or paid.

Confirm a new payment plan if asked
When the club puts your child on a plan, a “Review your payment plan” card shows how many payments will be taken, the total and the start date. Tap Confirm & authorise. If you don’t confirm, collection still starts automatically once the advance-notice period has passed.
- 3
Add a payment method so fees collect automatically
On the Payment method card, tap Add payment method. Stripe’s secure page opens. You can add a card, or a Direct Debit if your club offers it. Once it is saved, instalments are taken on their due dates and you don’t need to remember them.
- 4
Pay something that is due now
Tap Pay now. With no saved method, Stripe checkout opens (and saves the method for next time). With a saved card, the app charges it straight away. With a saved Direct Debit, the app asks whether to start a Direct Debit, which takes 3–5 working days to clear, or to pay by card instead.
- 5
Change your card or bank details
Tap Change payment method on the Payment method card and add the new card or Direct Debit in Stripe. On the web, use Update payment method on My Club.
What the payment states mean
- Scheduled / upcoming: not due yet. If you have a saved method it will be collected automatically on the due date.
- Due / overdue: waiting for payment. Overdue means the due date has passed.
- Processing: the payment has started but isn’t confirmed yet. Direct Debits take a few working days to confirm. Please don’t pay again while it says processing.
- Retrying: a payment failed and another automatic attempt is booked. The app tells you roughly when (“we’ll take the payment again on or around …”).
- Failed: the payment didn’t go through. If it says automatic retries have stopped, you need to pay it yourself.
- Paid or manually reconciled: settled. Manually reconciled means the club recorded it by hand, for example cash or a bank transfer.
If a payment fails
- 1
Read the message under the payment
It tells you whether another attempt is booked and roughly when.
- 2
Check the Payment method card
If it says your card is no longer working, or that your Direct Debit was stopped by your bank, nothing more can be collected until you add a new one. Tap Add a new payment method or Set up a new Direct Debit.
- 3
Pay now if you would rather settle it straight away
On a failed payment you can tap Retry now to try your saved method again, or Pay by card instead.
- 4
Talk to the club if something looks wrong
The club’s treasurer can see the same payment and why it failed.
Check you are set up
- Each child’s plan appears in the Plans tab with the amount you expected.
- The Payment method card shows a card or Direct Debit, not “No payment method yet”.
- Nothing under Due now says failed or overdue.
- You are signed in with the email or phone number the club has for you.
Common questions
I paid cash (or by bank transfer). Why does it still say unpaid?
Playlee can’t see money handed to the club directly. The treasurer has to record it as received. Once they do, the payment shows as manually reconciled. Send them the date and amount, or your bank reference.
Do I have to pay online?
No. Clubs can take cash or bank transfer and mark the fee as paid. Playlee never forces online payment. Ask your club how they would like to be paid.
Why can’t I choose Direct Debit?
Direct Debit is only offered if your club has switched it on. If you only see card, ask the club whether they offer Direct Debit.
Why does my payment still say processing?
Direct Debits take a few working days for the bank to confirm. The status updates by itself. Please don’t pay again while it is processing, or you may be charged twice.
My Direct Debit bounced. What happens now?
Playlee tries a failed Direct Debit again 4 days after the bank reports the failure, up to 2 times. If your bank cancelled the Direct Debit, it can’t be retried, so set up a new one from the Payment method card.
Will I be charged an extra fee?
Not on club fees. You pay the amount the club set, and Playlee’s fee is taken from the club’s share. Fines can be different: the club may add a small processing charge or an admin fee to a fine, and it is included in the amount shown.
Will I get a reminder before a payment is taken?
Usually, yes. By default the club sends a reminder a few days before a scheduled payment and chases overdue payments by email. Clubs can switch these emails off.
The club agreed a different arrangement for us. Where do I see it?
The club can set up a personal payment agreement, for example waiving the signing-on fee, waiving the first few subscription payments or not collecting before a certain date. When you sign up you’ll see “Your agreed payment arrangement is applied”, and only the payments that still apply appear in Plans.
I have been charged but it is not my child.
Don’t pay it. Contact the club so the treasurer can move the fee to the right payer or cancel it.
